Sunday was supposed to only provide bland uninviting weather conditions. At times, it rained pretty hard the previous Saturday night. So hard, it seems like some higher source was offering the ideal conditions to weather test an ark or something. But I digress here.

Anyhow, I woke up to an over exuberant bright glowing Sunday morning. Instead of relegating myself to some diligent photo editing, I decide to subsist on some of the wonderful glowing compliments I received on my last posted photo and use it as inspiration for another photo session. But where to shoot? And I mean shoot as in photograph, not gun power, powered projectiles. Cue Texan ridicule.

Funny thought though. Besides the beach, where the heck does a long time LA resident go shoot? All my photo excursions have mainly been inspired by taking moderate to long road trips or plane rides. Never have I tried to plan a within a 30 minute drive photography session. Perhaps I've lost the true spirit of photography? My brain hurt from trying to figure out where to shoot in Los Angeles.

After much only three involved hands online (someone only has one good hand) discussions with J-Show (not to be confused with the more infamous J-Low, who also goes by iLimp, for her graceful, up the stairs, walking technique), I forced J-Show to join me on a casual drive on Mulholland Drive. After 45 minutes of google research, I saw an online picturesque cloud covered downtown photo from one of the scenic points along Mulholland Drive. I wanted to go there myself.

Lessons learned: The observation point is pretty cool. There were boatloads of tourist there and some less than touristy peoples. Apparently, I found a decent "spot". There were also plenty of photographers there; some nice, some not so nice. I was tempted to push one photographer off the side of the hill for setting up his tripod on a tight major path artery (the path I was using - sheesh). At least he wasn't practicing his inconsiderations as a Chinaman. I would have been really embarrassed for his poor upbringing and doubly motivated to push his, overly represented demographic @ss off the hill. Opps. Anyhow, he was one of those more rare rude White peoples.  This location has potential. I felt as if I found a local photographic jewel. J-Show was happy to learn of this spot as well.

One additional lesson learned. Board cityscapes are very difficult to shoot. Very difficult to manage the light and doubly difficult to exclude things from the frame. I'm only mildly content with this photo. I promised I'd show J-Show something so here it is.

On a different note, the Promote is a temperamental beast. It is a rather high maintenance. Almost like some of the women I've dated in my ill-lustrious dating career. I wish Canon would just pony up the firmware upgrade and enable my camera to shoot bracketed shots like its Nikon brethren.
