Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, Colorado
"Climbing to the top of the dunes is very strenuous, especially with pounds of camera gear, and weather can change rapidly."
White Sands National Monument, New Mexico
Go during spring where the park hours closely mirrors sunrise and sunset hours.
Death Valley National Park, Nevada/California
Mesquite Flat Dunes - easier to get to
Eureka Dunes - Harder to get to, North America's tallest dune.
Visit in either the winter or the spring.
Imperial Sand Dunes, California
The North Algodones Dunes Wilderness provides early 26,000 acres of unspoiled dunes. Off-Highway Vehicles are used there.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, Utah
There is plenty of Off-Highway Vehicle usage here. Hard to get unspoiled shots.
Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, Oregon
Largest expanse of COSTAL sand dunes in North America
Grand Sables Dunes, Michigan
Overlooks Lake Superior in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
